The Challenge:
Rockford Fosgate has owned the car audio category for 45 years. The problem with owning something for 45 years is the sentence I hear every single time I mention the brand: "Oh, I had those subs in high school." Beloved, sure. But frozen in a parking lot in 2004. PUNCH — the line that's been the brand's backbone the whole way, was the highest-priority launch of 2025, and it couldn't land as a nostalgia play. It had to reintroduce an icon to people whose toys had grown up with them: side-by-sides, boats, motorcycles.

The Insight:
Nostalgia was the trap, not the asset. The job wasn't to remind people they loved PUNCH, it was to prove PUNCH had evolved as much as they had. So the whole campaign sat on a tension: honor the legacy and make a clean break from it. Two slogans, two jobs. "An Icon Returns." carried the history. "Engineered to Fit. Built to Perform." planted the flag in the present, solution-forward, but still swinging with the performance reputation Rockford was built on.

The Strategy:
I architected a multi-tiered video system rather than a pile of standalone content, each piece sequenced to compound the last and build a single narrative arc from legacy to launch. Around that, a full touchpoint ecosystem engineered for the three audiences that actually move a launch: dealers, reps, and consumers. Every collateral piece was a deliberate node in that story, not a one-off.

The Work:
A narrative video suite — legacy film, launch film, product overview, comparison, and an ASMR box-opening, plus the physical and digital arsenal: dealer in-store posters, a lenticular mailer, a custom international-rep product box, branded apparel, an air freshener, a full website takeover, and a custom site cursor. On copy, I embedded with the engineering team to actually understand VAST 2.0™, the 25% cone-area increase, the Tru-Sight™ tweeter, the F.L.W.R. auto-fit system, then translated all of it into language a human wants to read. Loud, clean, and relentless, instead of a spec sheet.

We developed a comprehensive suite of collateral for dealers, reps, and consumers, with each piece serving as a strategic touchpoint to build awareness and generate excitement in the market. The work spanned everything from in-store signage and custom mailer boxes to dealer materials, branded apparel, and accessories.

One of the first deliverables was to develop the overarching slogans the campaign would live under.

We needed two slogans: one that was solution-forward, yet still carried the performance reputation Rockford is known for. As well as one that spoke about the return of the Punch speaker line

I wanted to architect a multi-tiered video strategy that functions as a cohesive narrative system.
Each piece was created to compound brand equity, intentionally sequenced to shape a clear, elevated narrative arc, not just to exist as standalone content.

Auto Fit Architecture:

Everything was engineered to fit. A re-designed frame, mounting holes, removable motor cover and speaker diameter were all engineered to ensure seamless integration into today’s modern vehicles. Our Factory Location Woofer Ring (F.L.W.R.) and mounting flanges provide a flexible yet precise alignment for drop-in integration into most factory mounting locations.

Copywriting played a key role in the PUNCH launch. I developed a clear, compelling set of product features and benefits that supported both consumer-facing and dealer-focused messaging. Working closely with the engineering team, I gained a deep understanding of the product’s technical details and translated them into simple, engaging language that resonated with our audiences.
